A question  Reply with quote

Hi Chris.

My husband turned me onto your books last year, and I was immediately hooked by your engaging, funny, yet poignant writing style. I teach 8th grade reading and am constantly looking for books that 13 and 14 year olds will enjoy, but, alas, your books aren't really appropriate for this age group (although most 13 and 14 year olds are very jaded). Anyway, my question for you is this: Are you ever planning to write any young adult genre type books? When we have independent reading time in class (I read too), your books, at times, have made me laugh out loud (if that's what I'm reading), and then the kids get interested....a student actually went out and borrowed Blood Sucking Fiends and You Suck from the library (and enjoyed them, too!).

Many of my students haven't had much success with reading or come to me just hating the thought of picking up a book, so I'm constantly looking for writers that will suck them into the joy of reading. You are that type of writer.

I can't wait to read your next book!

Steph

I don't plan to do a young adult series, although I've been asked. I just don't have time. I'm not saying I wouldn't, if I came up with an appropriate idea, but I don't have any plans for it right now.

You could franchise them out, a la Tom Clancy Smile

Christopher Moore's 'Pine Cove Kids Adventures' has a nice ring to it, don't you think? Kinda like the Muppet Babies or sumfin.

Didn't someone have an idea about a shaved cat book for kids? I have to find that thread (later, when I have time and/or motivation).

The book can be sold with a roll of duct-tape and a shaving kit. Laughing Laughing
