Need new reading material for 6yr. old (Spooky)
I'm looking for some good books for the Halloween season. Not really into Goosebumps. Mystery, Ghosts, Ghouls, Pirates, Zombies, fantasy or science fiction. We are so desperate we are reading a book that was old when I was a kid 35 some years ago. It is kinda fun though cause it's about a Pirate Ghost and the book smells musty so that's cool. We only have about two more nights worth of reading in this book. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! _________________ When I tell you that I love you

They're not exactly new but I enjoyed, (and now so have my oldest kids) the books by John Bellairs. The House with a Clock in its Walls is the first to come to mind. _________________ Those who believe in telekinetics, raise my hand

Great! Thank you for the ideas. Heading to the book store now.
We've read The Wolves in the Wall and Coraline. I can't wait to read The Graveyard Book. What a great surprise, I didn't know anything about it! _________________ When I tell you that I love you

The Ink Drinker by Eric Sanvoisin is pretty cool. Its about a vampire who no longer drinks blood, but rather drains books of their ink.
You say you are looking for a 6 year old, and this one is a little hard to read on their own at that age, but its still a fun read and a little spooky, and a little silly. _________________ Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.

Thanks! This one is new to me, I look forward to checking it out.
I picked up Gaiman's new one. All of Bellairs books had to be ordered. In the mean time we read another Goosebumps book. I dread reading those. There is always so much bickering between the kids it drives me crazy. _________________ When I tell you that I love you

Just finished The Graveyard Book, and it was actually very good. Neil Gaiman is kind of hit or miss for me, and I didn't particularly like Coraline, so I assumed this would be a bit dodgy as well. I was wrong. Also, I noted he has a third picture book I didn't know about, The Dangerous Alphabet. Both of his others were great. _________________ "No, not the green ones. I read it and its good. So was Coraline. Haven't gotten to read The Wolves in the Walls. Also didn't he write Mirrormask??? I think so, I've only seen the movie but it was good. _________________ Bloodsucking Fiends, You Suck, The Lust Lizard of Melancholy Cove, Lamb, The Stupidest Angel, and A Dirty Job.
