This is great. I can't thank you enough for your suggestions. I went for months trying to weed out a decent read from those insipid Amazon reccomendations. I have read the reviews and synopses of all the books you have reccomended and have ordered all of them (used from Amazon).

BTW Has anyone heard the buzz on a book called "The Shack?" It is apparently some Christian thing but I've had three people reccomend it in the last two days.

I haven't read "The Shack" but lots of mixed reviews on it ... Enough so that I decided to give it a pass.

deshman, first let` me just say. I lOVE ME SOME OPIATES! Twisted Evil and now that weve got that outta the way. welcome! ive never murakami, but as for books that go good with dope , have you read "a crooked little vein"? by warren ellis or midnight blue : the sonja blue series by nancy collins? these are two of my fav books of all times.

im a ex-heroin addict, current methadone addict, who loves to read. one of my not so secret desires is to fill up a shack in the middle of nowhere and, with piles of books (comic and otherwise) i assume youve read hunter thompson and william burroughs....another good book thats about opiate addiction is "down and out on murder road" by tony oneil?

also, you might wanna bring some pie to the whos who forum so you can meet everyone and, well , give it to us!

I didn't realize that being a junkie required so much studying. Hell, being a drunk you just have to read American Standard a bunch of times and a few papers that say, "(Name) ________________________________ is restrained and enjoined from molesting, assaulting, harassing or stalking (name)------------- " Like that.

Being a junkie requires almost as much supportive literature as being a conservative. I'd never pass the pre-reqs

shit i just posted this literally as i was falling asleep, then when i woke up to get a cookie. (yes i eat cookies in my sleep) i thought oh i bet thats all discombobulated. but at least its the middle of the night so i can remove it before someone reads it. so of course its, ya know, one of my favorite writers in the world that read AND responded to it. Embarassed Embarassed (speaking of writers that work well with drug-addled brains, by the way) ok this is prolly just making things worse. plus i gotta get up at 6 to go to the methadone clinic, so i should just brush these oreos of my teeth and go back to sleep.....oh well at least it wasnt neil gaiman, that read my discombobulated post. Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

Sorry about this, but I am forced to agree with girlEgirl about authors who go well with drug addled brains. How do you think I got to this bbs?

girlEgirl, thanks for the reccomendations. I see I have some study to do before I can call myself a real junky. but I'm on it and have added all your suggestions to my Amazon Wish List.

And Chris, what did you think, that just any old lameo could be a junky? Ha, I'd like to see your average man on the street forge a prescription. I have a PH.D. ya know...... you can call me Doctor Junky........
