Dilemma - need your help  Reply with quote

whoo-hoo! just got a package in the mail today - finally purchased my copy of BLOODSUCKING FIENDS after reading it many a time after getting at the library. AND also finally got my copy of LAMB, after avoiding all related posts until i could not stand it any longer. now here's the hard part. i'm going up into the BWCA (Boundary Waters Canoe Area in Minnesota) in late july, to a cabin in the woods with no tv or phone, but all the other luxuries for a week. how am i going to stop myself from reading these little gems until then? I've thought about stuffing them into a jumbo-sized ziplock, and freezing them in a block of ice to adorn my freezer for a few months, but find this to be a bit trite and ordinary. i need a more strange and spectacular way of preserving these tomes, considering that CM wrote them and i have to properly give them their due - any ideas? your thoughts would be most welcome, the wilder the better!

p.s. on an unrelated note, how long do i have to keep posting naked? the neighbors are whispering and pointing... maybe it's because i'm typing on my laptop in the front yard?

p.p.s. bud, the evil parrot says hi. i have not yet succeeded in destroying him. although bud's way of saying hi is by emitting blood-curdling screeches until you go into seizures, i know he feels deeply for you and misses all of you terribly...

Well, in keeping with the pirate obsession around here, you could always hand them over to a friend and have him or her bury it somewhere, sending you on a treasure hunt. They could draw up a treasure map and everything. You already have the parrot.

I think you must be grandfathered in for the posting naked thing, what with you posting on the old board. Smile

Glad to see your back esb! Haven't seen you for a while. as far as posting naked thing how do you think I fell? I have to do it in front of Army men! while this prolly doesn't sound to bad to you it's horrible for me. Especially since I have to work with them.

Well one thing you could do see is to take them, read them then go to a specialist, have him erase your memories of them but leaving clues as to what you read...no that sounds too much like a ben affleck movie. Maybe you could mail them to a post office in the area and pick them up on the way there. I know, this will take some time but first get a condor...train said condor to act like a carrier pigeon see? Attach the books to the condors leg and have it fly to the cabin thus relieving you of the books till it arrives...I dunno I'll work on this. By the way good to have you back amongst us. Cool

boy howdy!  Reply with quote

thanks, guys - it's good to be back! i've missed the witty repartee and the scathing wit of y'all!

thanks for the ideas - if you got em, keep em coming - these are good suggestions! i have to admit -- i'm growing weaker. already read chapter 1 of BSF - laughing my ass off all over again - it's great to get back into these books - love the way CM manages throw in a twist and a shock within the first sentence of the book - love the way they just grab you in pull you in...

"Sundown painted purple across the great Pyramid while the Emperor enjoyed a steaming whiz against a dumpster in the alley below."

i have never before read a book that presents taking a pee in the first sentence.

priceless...

i'll do my best to at least save LAMB for the trip, but looks like BSF will be my friend for the next few days...

...life is good...
