Kevin Costner to help clean BP's spill.

In my country it is customary to bring on film stars as distraction to areas of crisis. The first time I saw this Fool show was when Mars star Arnold Schwarzenegger came onto what is it Houston? to the Mars unmanned "landing" some eight years ago live around 12 o'clock midnight my time.

Now, second Fool show.

given that Paul Winchell. a famous ventriloquist, was one of the original inventors of an artificial heart, an automobile that runs on battery power, a method for breeding tilapia fish, and many other inventions that are still around today, I wouldn't discount someone's patent solely because they're a celebrity.

The actress Hedy Lamarr invented frequency hopping in WW2. A technology that's still in use with cellphones and Wi-Fi.

Oil spill was intentional. Hollywood hero ready with machine. Now rides in.

Read this.

Summa. We say. Just for the fun of it.

Yes. It's much better to leave the oil on the waters surface and shoreline.
Than try to remove it. Rolling Eyes Laughing

Wait a minute.

The article says that it will take about a zillion years for Costner's machines to clean up the oil because there is so much water in the Gulf, but their[/i\ math doesn't add up because his machines don't have to clean every single gallon of water in the Gulf, only the gallons [i]on the surface, or am I missing something?

Doesn't oil float?

Forgive me if I've got it wrong.

oil doesn't mix with water, but it has different densities; some settles to the bottom mixing with the sand and coating the rocks, some hangs in "plumes" under the surface and some floats on the surface. (one of the reasons there's trade in oil between oil producing nations is because different environments have different types of oil.

It isn't necessary to clean every ounce of water in the gulf but, given how dispersed the actual slick is and how huge the plumes are, it's still going to take a lot work. It won't help at all with what's sunk to the bottom.

I like that BP didn't order the machines when they tested them earlier because it changed the consistency of the oil. Ha!

"BP tested a version of Costner's device earlier this year, but the test failed after the machine gave the oil a peanut butter-like consistency."

That?
I couldn't care less, wether or not the oil is a viable product
once it's been separated.
At least it cleaned the water.
They had equipment that could have helped the situation,
and didn't deploy it.
Shithooks the lot of them.

Seems as if there should be some market for hydrogenated oil. I hear it has excellent spreading qualities.

Suppose the gushing oil had come about from a naturally caused rift? How would it have been dealt with?

Erth caused hazard Erth will heal. Besides if she wants to sprout oil who is to stop her beauty?

Man she is handling. She will handle. She is self healing.

I sometimes watch with great amusement the man riding the elephant on the street. He continues to do so while the elephant seems to think he is more powerful. Who can contain the elephant if she should run? Who can contain her if she rises after being shot a hundred times and pursue her enraged rampage?

Erth is like that.

I believe in the hadron collider. Whatever science man does is intentional and perfectly executed. Crashing two particles will show time of creation but create a black hole as side effect I will not accept. Only the black hole is intentional and the initial target of CERN.

G...That David Brin book. I am looking at it's wikipedia page. I would like to gently point out that Man has achieved a tremendous sleight of hand by replacing paper as value of exchange. Oh My God! Paper! Paper!

Well. Now the hysterics are over. No. We are not going to fight over it.

Aliens. God. Satan. Darn Frickin Fool. Yes. Not Switzerland. Switzerland is not there.

Why? Did something go terribly wrong at CERN?
