Just finished Lamb...  Reply with quote

I just finished Lamb- I know, just about everybody who's been around the board for any period of time devoured AG's stuff ages ago. I hate knowing that I've read everything an author has written and then waiting for something new to come out, so I prefer to stockpile a few potential favorites. It's nice that I can look up at the shelf and see Fluke along with unread books by Hiaassen, James Lee Burke, Robert Crais, etc. Anyway...

I was kind of hesitant to get into Lamb- I'm Catholic, and even though I was confident that CM would keep things funny rather than offensive, it's a touchy subject and I wasn't sure how it would go over. Happily, Chris's judgement was perfect and I thoroughly enjoyed the read, cover to cover. I skipped reviews and previous discussions of Lamb because I didn't want to hit any spoilers, but now that I've finally read it I'm curious if there was any controversy over Lamb when it was first released. Does anyone have any links or other input on this?

JDJinTx, there really wasn't much controversy, although we tried. We sent it to Fallwell and Robertson and all of the Fox-Facist News Network. No luck. And no nasty letter. Nada. Zip. Nothing.

You might want to check out the tour audio now that you've read the book, though. It will enlighten you about the process.
