The most dangerous chocolate cake in the world  Reply with quote

Chocolate cake made in 5 minutes in a coffee mug - have you seen this? There is a book of mug recipes apparently out there somewhere - this was posted on group recipes - bloody awful link so I will post recipe here- I haven't tried this cause don't have a microwave:
1 large coffee mug (microwaveable)
4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar
1-4 tablespoons cocoa (to preference)
1-egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (I would think you could have either/or cocoa
or both if you want a decadent chocolate experience)
Add dry ingredients to mug and mix well; add egg and mix well; add milk and oil next and mix well; add choc. chips if using and mix. Put in micro and nuke for 3 minutes at 1000 watts (high I guess).Cake will rise over the top of the mug - but don't be alarmed (they advise). Let cool and either eat in the mug or tip out onto a plate. Sounds fun! Oh, and its the most dangerous cake because it means that delicate temptation is only minutes away instead of all the usual gruelling tedium of cake prep.

I tried this just this morning.
Yes, it works.
My suggestion is use your BEST ingredients.
It comes out a little spongy, but I guess that's the microwave.
Use mugs that are cylindrical or fluted, wide at the top small at the bottom.
Pear shaped mugs will lead to trouble.
When popping the cake from the mug, it will resemble a can of Alpo.
Don't stare at it, it has enough problems as it is.(you're gonna eat it)
Allow to cool and eat or Frost.
Some of you are gonna hate this.
But you bachelors are gonna lubit.

I think you're supposed to use one of those round mugs but I'm not sure what size-
sounds like it'd be good with frosting...

Now, has somebody got some daiquiri mix & Cool Whip so we can make a quick pie for Wonko? Wink

This sounds promising - I'm tucking it away for future use. The last thing I need is an entire chocolate cake sitting around.

Glad to know you tried it and it works FC - hmm interesting that you tried a variety of mug shapes - how many different mug shapes was it?
Anyhow, I found out in the interim that blue sage press puts out the book, it's entitled:
Easy Microwave desserts in a mug cookbook

Oh, the offspring and I made pumpkin pie and tarts last night for wont of anything better to do in yet another lovely blizzard. But you guys don't want any, I think the offspring left a few eggshells in. (Subtle mocking of the pie-deprived).
Blue sage press also has a website.
