Questions for the AG
|
|
Why did you move away from Hawaii?
When having your picture taken with someone, do you always tilt your head to the same side, or is it determined by which side the other person is on? If the latter - if you have one person on either side of you, does it result in a head-tilting short circuit meltdown?
Do you currently play any MMORPGs? If so what is your character name and server? I would so be willing to level up a character somewhere so I could PK you. o.O
I was going to ask: In light of our political climate here in the US, what foreign country would you consider moving to if things don't get any better? Then I found out you already moved to California.
My uncle always smoked Swisher Sweets cigars when I was a kid. Some random thoughts brought me to the following question: Is there a bar in San Francisco named "Swisher Sweets?" Which, as I was typing this, made me wonder why the Castro was called the Castro?

| *edited* I knew I would forget a question. On Fantastic Fiction, do you give them recommendations specifically, or do they just use dusk jacket type stuff you've already done? (Finishing Lecard's second book right now, so thanks for that one.) *edited* |
Since I have your attention, I just wanted to say that your books are absolutely ridiculous (sick, tight). Lamb in particular is just seriously cool, and not only because it's funny. You're easily in my list of top five authors ever. Ah fuck, now I look like I just had a date with someone named Sanchez. :/
Seriously - thanks for your books. _________________ "No, not the green ones. I was just fucking with you."

I haven't done an "ask the authorguy" blog in years, and I probably should, but just to knock things out, here's your answers

It was just too far away to try and be connected to the rest of the world. The travel every time I needed to do a speaking gig was unacceptable. Oh, and many of the people I was in contact with were seriously stupid. It started to grate on my nerves.

I usually tilt my head to the shorter person's side. It's not concious, it's just being deferential about my height, I think.

No, I don't. I don't online game at all. I used to play Mech Warrior and was on a team for years, but when I moved to Hawaii the broadband lag was too long and I stopped. I haven't gotten back into it.

I don't plan on living somewhere else, but I could live in England or France, either one.

I don't know about the Swisher Sweets. The Castro is called the Castro because of the renovated Castro theater, which is in the middle of the neighborhood. It was an Irish neighborhood for years, then a slum and hippie hang out, but with the renovation of the Castro theater, gays started moving into the neighborhood and renovating the Victorians and soon it became the gay heart of San Francisco.

I don't remember talking to them, so they may have written me an e-mail that I answered one morning before coffee.
