I have just finished reading Pratical DemonKeeping and I loved this book. Although I didn't laugh out loud like some of you, there were moments when I couldn't help but giggle, which drove the people around me nuts.
I have just ordered another book from amazon.co.uk Bloodsucking Fiends. I can't wait until it arrives. Unfortunatly I have to wait until a soundtrack I ordered is ready!
Oh well, at least I have something to look forward. God bless my friend for introducing me to CM.
to me...Lamb blows away anything AG has written to date...A Dirty Job is close....i rate Practical Demonkeeping as his poorest output.... _________________ "The Kingdom is like a mustard seed..."

Maybe its because I am a fan of HP Lovecraft, but when you first visit HP's Cafe and read the menu. Eggs Sothoth and a side order of the Spuds of Madness... I had to laugh in my strangely fake British accent.
Practical DemonKeeping was the first Moore book I read. At the time only Coyote Blue was available in the UK. I've enjoyed rereading it several times since them.

Of course, whether anyone agrees with this statement or not, it has to be said that "poorest" on a scale of "pretty fucking awesome" to "totally fucking awesome" is not really a bad thing.
Whichever is his poorest work, it's still pretty fucking awesome. _________________ Twitter: jefftunes

I totally agree.
Being that Lamb was my first CM book, and Fluke was my second (and both books vie for the top position in my bean-made hierarchy of CM books) I was a bit disappointed when I started reading PDK, which was the third book I read of his. but if given the choice of PDK or anything else (other than Harry Potter) to read, it will TOTALLY be PDK. because CM is THE MAN! when it comes to writing! _________________ I will gladly ravage you Tuesday for a ravaging today...

And J.K. Rowling is THE WOMAN, I presume?
Actually, I didn't read PDK first, either, but I liked it very much. _________________ "If you allow yourself to be offended, then you're a bit of [a] nitwit."

Actually if you want quirky fantasy written by an English woman ... then Dianne Wynne Jones is a more richer and rewarding read than JK Rowling's Harry Potter books.
She has been writing for years ... so her back catalog is fairly huge. A Charmed Life is a good starting place. Howls Moving Castle is also quite good.
Practical Demon Keeping is the must start place for Pine Cove lovers. Mind you I loaned Stupidist Angel to a friend who had got tired of my laughing out loud while reading it. He insisted I loan it to him after I finish and no amount of explaining he needed to read other books first would put him off. He loved it, though naturally didn't enjoy the full CM Geekout that being a reader of all the other Moore books would give you.

yup! In fact, I am going for Classics for my PhD and not ancient history in hopes that one day I can teach a class on Harry Potter. imo she is amazing. but I happen to have an affinity for good wizard stories that aren't overly complex, and she fulfills my classics nerdiness with her use of Latin and mythology.
/are you guys talking about two different books with the same title? _________________ I will gladly ravage you Tuesday for a ravaging today...
