Chicago is not Naperville...Naperville is not Chicago  Reply with quote

CONGRATS Your Nineness!! finally being "discovered"!!! wonderful news. Maybe this will inspire your writing even more, so we get more books! Very Happy

Confused I really did plan on driving the hour or more from the City to NVille on Sunday to say HEY to Chris on his tour... HOWEVER. Just got back from Hawaii last night and the last thing I feel like doing is spending time on the Eisenhower Evil or Very Mad . Next time can you really come to Chicago, the city?!? I'll help with the venue however I can. --I'm not a big fan of suburbs... beaches, forests, country, (raised and bred in Oregon- how did I get stuck here?); and big cities are fine... but not big on burbs. I may yet change my mind and make the journey... however, if you don't see me- maybe next time.. best of luck, hope you survive the tour ok. WAY TO GO!

BLAH. I'm so sick of the burb haters. It's not like you'll friggin melt outside of the city limits. The Ike on a Sunday afternoon will be a breeze. Be happy that he is in the Chicago area at all!!!

Boo hoo hoo. I just come back from Hawaii. My life sucks sooooo bad! Now you want me to drive a whole hour in my bmw. Woe is me! LOL,,, Just having some fun. 5+ hours for me (from St Louis) and the drive from St Louis to Chicagoland is one of the most boring in the US (excluding western Kansas). Boo hoo hoo. Smile

33 hours and counting!

OK, so lots of negativity out there, I can feel all of your hate aimed at me. I will forego this activity from now on, and will do my remedial nudity assignment. Yes, I'm not crazed abuot burbs, yes, I don't like to drive, yes, I got to go to Hawaii, Yes, I have a life! and it's busy and full and I'm lucky and blessed, and I like to be happy.
and most of all, YES, I enjoy Chris Moore's books and his outlooks, and was looking forward to some fun communiques, but see that is not to be- it is what it is.

thanks Jillopy  Reply with quote

no, didn't make the drive. Thanks for saying you're fun. I think it was your pictures I was looking at from Sunday- looks like fun. One of the things I most admire about Chris' writing is that he is able to blend humor, and darkness and morals, and he's never mean- which is why the negative responses really surprised me.

and no, I do not have a beemer. I have a 92 Honda with over 130k miles, another reason why I don't drive far, it might fall apart at any moment...

Sunday was great. Chris was hilarious. Hopefully you can make a signing on his next time around.

Take everything said here with a grain of salt. And don't be afraid to dish it back.

Did anyone explain to Andi that we tend to eat our own here?

I mean, we tend to make fun of our own and it's all in good humour. However, newbies often don't make their first post such a rant and so usually get a little lovin' (down Deb, down Joe) before they see the darker side of our humour turned against them.

Andi where in Or-y-gun were you raised? If you're from P-town, I can totally appreciate the whole burbs hate. Portland pretty much makes sense in layout, you can find your way from point A to point B easily. But you get outside of the city into some of the surrounding communities and you begin to hate the inventor of cul-de-sacs and want to go postal on them. And don't get me started on Vancouver, WA.

What the hell are you doing in Chi?

Except Gracie. We have to talk about her behind her back. But since it's her fault, she's nice enough to not complain about it.

Ok ok I was a bit sensitive and a bit insensitive in my original email. I will let it go, does this mean my nudity punishment is lifted?
Let's see... born and raised in Salem (now do you know why I'm in Chicago?).

--an opportunity to move to Chgo came up, thought it might be fun for 6-12 months, yet here I am 14 yrs later. I do not hate burbs, but if I'm not going to live in the city, I'll move back to Orygun. Some of the little towns around Chicago are cute.

The city is more inviting to me; I'm single and like culture, so it's easy to do things on my own; I actually know my neighbors; I can go to a good blues club or Shakespeare, the lake is 8 blocks, so I can run the dogs and take them swimming. anyway, more than you wanted to know. Would love to move to Portland and have looked and interviewed for jobs there, but haven't come up with anything yet. ideas?
