Just make sure you remain consistent. If you use 'toward,' then always use 'toward.' (in that story, at least) |

Yeah, I've looked. I can't find it. A college teacher had photo copied the poem for me and I lost it, so I've been searching for it ever since (about a year and a half). Haven't seen it so far. |

That's great. I can go with a tag like that.
But, since tags are mostly invisible, it really jars a person out of the story if they're too 'adverby' or just too awkward.

You can always use said, even if it's a question. I find that using asked will break the rhythm sometimes, but I couldn't tell you why, since it has the same number of syllables.
