Vahlee, I didn't intend anything like that. Those are only euphemisms if you have a dirty mind, so... well... Smile

Ginjg, I'll get that link here in a second. I'm getting ready to go back and give a lick and a promise to the new one today. Part one should be finished and then I can get into the meat of the story. Now for the hard part. I keep hitting a tight spot and I just have to push on through. Don't worry, though, I'll eventually get to the climax if I keep driving hard for it.

Ahh, but the hard part is one of my favorite parts. Wink

Part One is done. I still don't have anything but a tentative title for it, but I'm pretty happy with the buildup and the characters are pretty solid. Anyone who wants a sneak peek at it, PM me an email you'd like a MS Word file sent to and I'll let you have a look at the opening.

Now that I'm through that I can get to the "good" parts. LOL.

I was first published at 18 when I was in the army, it was a Penthouse Forum letter I gleefully penned one night while pulling gate guard duty out in the sticks. I made it seem to be written by my married prick of a company commander. I am not sure who was more shocked when it was published, him or me, but I prayed he didn't find out who the real author was, or I had a one-way ticket to the DMZ. I had that loser porking every Korean prositute he could lay his fat little hands on in the letter, living in a brothel with a harem hand-feeding him while they fought over who would get to blow him next. The guys in my platoon thought it was great, bet his wife back in the states did too.

I am an avid romance reader. I like my stories to have depth. I want to go places, meet interesting people, have my heart stolen away by the characters and sex, sex, sex. I'm nuts for Sherrilyn Kenyons work. She does a great job using mythology, current fashions and magic, shape shifters... Spicay!

Great story Richyrich. Smile Good thing you didn't get popped. I hear the military can be real dickheads about fun stuff like that.

Kianu, I've never read Sherrilyn Kenyon, but I like the idea of shapeshifters and mythology and all that. Maybe I'll read something of hers sometime. The Man in The Woods is about a shapeshifter, but he never shapeshifts in the story, so it's lost on a lot of people. I thought it was pretty obvious, but most didn't catch it.

So the question is this: How do you like your smut? Do you want a story or just get right to the bumping of uglies? Do you need to know the characters or do you just want to see their genitals duel it out in the Coliseum?

I like a story of substance surrounding the erotica.

I used to write erotica when I was blocked on my fiction novel...it was something fun that could just flow right out of me and keep the creativity alive. But it was far from hard core. No, there was always elements of reality...so more people could identify with it--but steamy and delicious at the same time. There is plenty of room for good story AND genital dueling.

Over Christmas, my niece and I decided that we could write some really hot porn movies with substance (which is usually the kind women go for more than men--am I right, men?). Hmmm....could THAT be how I break into the publishing market??? Twisted Evil

Completely forgot about this thread...

OK, this is my take on movies, but it also applies to erotica: You don't have to have a strongly developed plot, but you should at least have a premise. Just enough so people know why they should care that the characters are getting some.

Having said that, I've written some pretty "interesting" stories myself & shared them with a few people (not really sure how said folks feel about the quality of the writing & think they might have been disturbed by at least one of these tales). But mine are all true, so there's not much in the way of character development... still, there's the question of how much backstory to reveal. Also, if I ever did try to publish any of this stuff, I'd have to change a bunch of names- especially mine!

I like backstory. It can still be smuttyful even if it is well thought out and well written. That's the best kind!
