NDY's poll... by proxy.

Is a character better, worse or indifferent if they are shown to be "normal" people by their authors?
Yes, I like an author's characters flaws and all.

No, I don't want to read the mundane routines of everyday life, I read to escape all that.

I don't care how a character is portrayed, I'm just interested in the story.

Ok, if you read NDY's post about Kay Scarpetta, a series character from mystery author Patricia Cornwell, then you know what this is about.

If not, NDY doesn't particularly like the Scarpetta character because she's "too perfect". Here is her original post:

I am trying to avoid going out doors which is only going to last about 7 minutes longer.... AAAAAGH
What do you guys think? Am I jealous of a character in a book? Am I projecting my own feelings? You author people..... is a character better if they leave their dirty breakfast dishes in the sink once in a while?

What's your opinion?

I think I speak for all the hetero guys when I ask,
Which answer will get me sex?
Not that I'm looking, it's just the normal route that a mans mind takes
when asked a question by a female. Laughing

You know who they need to bring back?! Quincy!! The warm and fuzzy coroner! Remember that guy??? I think my mom made me watch that starting when I was about three. That's where I learned about the bagels with the creamy creamy cream cheese! Hey! Didn't he live in San Francisco in the show? Or am I imagining that? Cool
Oops, I wikied it. It says he was the L.A. county M.E. Very Happy

I have enough trouble getting into my own pants! Razz

Wouldn't it be easier if we all skipped pants entirely?

Question Wait, what were we talking about? Confused

I'm not sure if I've read those books or not...
