I always like the italics version best. What I would really like to know is if anyone has inventend a 'sarcasm' font yet. That would be really helpful, and I wouldn't have to say things like: "I would love to go to the Toby Keith concert with you Mom"......he said sarcastically.

Maybe if we invented a verb: "he sarcasticated..." Very Happy

I recall reading Cormac McCarthy used no/little punctuation.

He was funded by grants, many grants for many years so he had no immediate financial worries which allowed him to spend time on his writing skills, which he did and he honed.
