Beergnome's Burbon Soaked Balls  Reply with quote

An old Southren treat for the holidays..
eat about four, and you start to get a bit of a buzz!

1 (12 oz.) pkg. vanilla wafer
1 c. confectioners sugar
1 c. pecans or walnuts, finely chopped
1/4 c. light corn syrup
2 tbsp. unsweetened cocoa
1/2 c. bourbon
1/2 c. confectioners sugar

Crush the vanilla wafers. In a large bowl, thoroughly mix all ingredients except the 1/2 cup confectioners sugar. Shape the batter into 1/2 to 1 inch balls. once rolled out, re-roll them in the confectioners sugar. Store in a tightly covered container for 3 days. Makes about 4 dozen balls.

as I pointed out in a similar post of debkahs last year (or the year before - I have no true sense of time)
you can save time by using crushed nabisco famous chocolate wafers. then you can mix the cocoa with the powdered sugar for the coating if you like
or use crushed ginger snaps in place of the vanilla wafers for bit more zip
I prefer cognac or rum to the bourbon, though they're all good, even vodka
