I have actually been wondering about copyright issues too, there is a whole sub plot in my story that relies on being able to mention certain movies. The sub plot consists of characters watching vampires movies to do research on vampires and how they act so they can take care of the vampires they have with them. I don't think I would need to use quotes from the movies, just the title and the characters talking about certain scenes. Would there be a problem with copyright issues if I wrote that?

You can mention titles and refer to scenes without permission. You can't quote the movie, however.
