Davos: Fat Cats convene to discuss pressing global issues  Reply with quote

Davos is similar to G7, but for the uber rich and CEOs of the biggest corporations. The agenda of breakout sessions include all sorts of lofty topics. Of course, this makes attendance a valid business expense.
But the underlying theme this year's gathering is, if you didn't already suspect...
Quote:
The public policy issue of the day, from the point of view of such CEOs, is simple. There needs to be sufficient fiscal austerity to strengthen public balance sheets -- so that states can more effectively stand behind their banks in the future, and to keep currencies from moving too much. Leading bankers, in particular, insisted on the paramount importance of providing unlimited government support to their sector during 2008-09; now they insist with equal or greater vigor that support to all other parts of society be curtailed.

Last year our CEO said the company was in good shape because we had 1 billion dollars in cash filling up his swimming pool. This year, we continue to do well, and he has 2 pools each full of 1 billion dollars of the corporation's cash. Unfortunately, we can't afford to keep funding pensions like we did in the past.

CEO's and the amoral corporations they run know what's best for the people.

Anyone is too broad. Let's focus. Anyway, I think they should be better sentenced to spend they're lives doing the most dull repetitive jobs with no hope of ever being able to take a vacation or retire. Their current wealth could provide valuable r&d and seed money for new industries.

Killing's reserved for child predators.
