In need of a hug
I had some awful news early yesterday morning. One of my friends who I stitch with on Tuesday nights was discovered dead in her apartment Monday night. Somebody had called the police to check on her. She would have been 54 years old on April 11. We hadn't seen her in a couple of weeks but had no reason to think it was any kind of serious issue. She gave us plausible reasons for not coming. But she evidently died sometime between Tuesday evening last week and March 1. I know she was alive at 5:30, when she sent an e-mail saying she wouldn't be joining us to stitch. I'm still stunned and having a hard time absorbing this sad, sad news. I didn't want to put this on facebook because there are just too many people. But I could use some virtual hugs.
We talked a lot about Carol last night and raised a glass of wine to her.
That's all. _________________ kthxbai

T'anks, guys. I'll probably need more after helping her father clear things out of her apartment. Evidently the police told her sister she might have had hoarder tendencies. (Not surprising for a spinster stitcher, actually almost any dedicated stitcher.) A bunch of us are going to help him; I'm going in the morning on Saturday. Not looking forward to it, but it has to be done. _________________ kthxbai

Having talked with her father tonight, it appears that she really was quite ill and not letting anyone know. She was in a really deteriorated condition and let her apartment deteriorate as well. It's all so sad and horrible. We just don't understand why she hid it from everyone, friends and family. I feel really bad for her father, who's a doctor btw. I can't imagine if I had to do this for Jane.
We're going to be helping him sort through things on Saturday. I'm not looking forward to it, but it has to be done.
Is it possible that she didn't know how sick she really was? We'll never know. _________________ kthxbai

Virtual hugs & cocoa...
Several years ago, we had a friend fall over dead in his kitchen while cooking-
it was so sudden, I don't think the food had burned when they found him-
none of us knew of anything in particular wrong with him
& he was only in his mid-30s so we were all pretty stunned
& I'm still not sure but may have been a bad reaction to meds that got him...
As to why she wouldn't tell anybody how sick she was, I think I get it-
she probably wanted to have as normal of a life as she could in what little time was left-
I could see doing this myself, though I'd likely leave some kind of message behind...
Anyway, you'll get through this & we're all here if you need to vent...

Hugs Sara.
My ex's cousin sister and I were very close friends. We were always shopping together, gossiping and being confidants. We were visitors of this beautiful temple and would spend hours there. We were quite formidable together. After my separation I couldn't see her for 4 years. And then in 2008 I went to inform her I was filing for divorce. After an hour of talking when I left her I held her hand for awhile just touching it and stroking it not letting it go.
In 2010 as the family was preparing for a wedding we were stunned to open the newspaper and find her obit. I had some henna in my hair and just fell like a tree, like I had been axed. I had no idea I would never see her again.
I no longer take it for granted when I look at people. It seems like no one can be seen again. I also think about this board where we have kept a quite sound health except for Brenda. And that we go on. And on.
Cheer up. It happens. _________________ Your religion, you miserable man, begins in your stomach and ends in a lavatory - Nodar Dumbadze

My condolences and sympathies Sara Leigh. (((SL)))
Dunno why people hide illnesses. My missus' Aunt (to whom I am forever indebted, and love dearly) hid her breast cancer from the ENTIRE family.
Finding her inert form was...strange.

I went for a mammogram last month fc. And I tell you it was earth shattering. To be naked waist up with a man you have never known before. And he said I have seen you somewhere, haven't I, teasing my nipples with the sono mouse. I said never. Not like this anyway.
He's not a man I would like to meet down a well lit corridor and say Good Morning Sir to. _________________ Your religion, you miserable man, begins in your stomach and ends in a lavatory - Nodar Dumbadze
