Some really atrocious fiction.  Reply with quote

Mainly a prop for the Colbert Report on Comedy Central, here's an excerpt from Stephen Colbert's self-published, undistributed Sci-Fi thriller:

Stephen Colbert's Apha Squad 7: Lady Nocturne: A Tek Jansen Adventure

If you're writing looks like this, you may have some more book-learnin' to do.

The excerpt he read on the air was even funnier.

The hard part, is in the workshop, when someone reads something like that and you have to say, "I really liked it, but..." it's good to pause here a little while you re-swallow what you just threw up in you mouth.

How many indeed.

How do I rid this dreck from my memory?

Don't worry, FFPF. You have NOTHING to worry about!

Good lord. What's really disturbing is that someone actually said, "Hey! I wanna publish that."

Maybe you do. Smile Being unknown may have its strengths in this case.
I much prefer a neutral approach, "Lets discuss the problems and how you can fix them." I'm still resisting the urge to say "That was awful. Lets make sure you never do that again . . . "

Aaaaand that was me up there. I just reread your post.

He self published? So what's worse is that he thought, "Hey! I want to publish that."

When he flipped the pages, it looked blank. I think they probably just wrote the passages that were on the show and website, and had a blank-book bound with a cover.

Dear god, I hope I'm right on that...

The fanfiction's better.I like it better- who knew Stephen Colbert could take on the Witch-King?
