1. Your favorite virtue?
Not being afraid to screw up.
2. Favorite qualities in a man?
Individual thinking, sincerity, and a total aversion to anything "just okay".
3. Favorite qualities in a woman?
Same as above. Plus a lack of eyeshadow. I see these girls walking around my school, they've got more eyeshadow on than Billie Joe Armstrong. What are you saying, girls of my school? "I am beautiful because I do not get nearly enough sleep"?
4. Your chief characteristics?
I'd like to think that I'm creative, but more realistically my two biggest characteristics are slacking off on a project until the last minute and insane worrying about said project right before it's due.
5. Your favorite occupation?
Comicker, plus plain author/artist/actor/musician/playwright on the side.
6. Your idea of happiness?
Somewhere new and exciting. Somewhere off the map.
7. Your idea of misery?
Doing the same thing, day in, day out, and never getting recognized for it.
8. Your favorite color and flower?
Color: White. Flower: I really prefer Gold Medal Flower, but my mom has been getting King Arthur Flower for a while now, and that stuff's pretty good too. Flower is all pretty much the same, actually. Why do you ask?
9. If not yourself, who would you be?
I can't imagine me being anything other than myself. Otherwise, well, I wouldn't be myself, and without myself, I'm not me. Right?
10.Your favorite prose author?
Kelly Link. I sent her an e-mail praising her newest short story compendium, Magic For Beginners, and she sent me back a pack of cards and a T-shirt for free. Try writing to authors sometime! If you're lucky, you can extort them for free material goods!
11.Your favorite poet?
Um... would it be too stupid if I said Shel Silverstein?
12.Your favorite composer and artist?
Composer: Those guys in They Might Be Giants. Artist: My cousin, Christian. He sculpts stuff in iron, which is rad. Also he has this gigantic beard thing which makes him look like a young Grizzly Adams. (Favorite not-related-to-me artist: Alex Calder. Or maybe Renee Magritte.)
13.Your heroes in Real Life?
Scott McCloud, James Kochalka, Kazu Kibushi. And my parents, of course.
14.Your heroes in fiction?
I don't know. Arthur Dent, I guess. He never really seems to know what's going on, and yet he still manages to pull through.
15.Your favorite food and drink?
Fresh bagels and Chocolate YooHoo. Heck yeah. Like, with maybe a little cream cheese or some pizza stuff spread on top of the bagel.
16.Your favorite name?
For a kid? Isaac, maybe. You don't meet many Isaacs nowadays. Jennifer is a good name, too-- a little more popular, but still pleasing to the ear without having the tendency to get annoying after a while.
17.Your pet aversion?
I gotta say I'm not much of a dog person. But then, I don't know if I'm really a pet person at all. If I'm gonna have to pick up its poop, I'm not going to be on the friendliest terms with it.
18.What character is history do you most dislike?
Hitler, of course. Also probably Louis XIV, for sheer annoyingness. And Schopenhauer, for being such a downer. And whoever invented Kidz Bop.
19.What is your present state of mind?
Oregon, I guess. I'm kind of tired.
20.What is your favorite motto?
I have, like, a million of 'em. Here's one that's particularly good:
John Wesley wrote:
Once in seven years I burn all my sermons; for it is a shame if I cannot write better sermons now that I did seven years ago.

It describes my personal creative principles: Learn as you go, and don't rest on your laurels. And try everything once. That's a good one, too.
