Excerps from a new review - from canada!!!!!  Reply with quote

April 15/06 - The Globe & Mail (canadadian national newspaper) reviewed by Robert Wiersema

For Christopher Moore, nothing succeeds like excess.
Typically, A Dirty Job reads with a satisfying briskness of punchlines and careening narrative developments. The dialog crackles, the plot surprises at every turn, and there are several times you'll need to put the book aside to try to recover from paralyzing laughter.
Christopher Moore's writing is like runny cheese, absinthe and European pornography: disturbing, intoxicating and definitely an acquired taste. Many readers will find his humour too broad, his imagination too unhinged, his tone too iconoclastic. Their loss.

Overall, a pretty good review, and I'm guessing that he may be a fan. If anyone wants a copy of the whole thing, I can scan it into a doc.

Over the top? Not a bit of it

Seems to have some spoilers in it that I personally wouldn't include in a review (he even manages to sneak in a major spoiler for FLUKE) - so I'd be cautious about sharing the review with people that haven't read the book.

The reviewer is wrong about one thing; runny cheese makes me constipated, and ADJ NEVER did.
