Dumpster with a capital D?  Reply with quote

Hi fellow Moore-istas,

Just finished "A Dirty Job." Loved it, like all the rest. Just one thing... Why was the word "Dumpster" always capitalized? Did I miss the part about Dumpsters ascending to some sort of higher state, and thus the distinction to other lowly nouns?

Thanks!

Maybe because they were originally named Dempsey Dumpsters? I think it was a trademarked term.

Yeah, Dumpster and Bandaid (or is that two words) here, or Tannoy and Hoover in the UK. They're all trademarks and should be capitalised as far as I am aware.

Ha - you two are right, Dumpster is a trademark! To think I've lived my life to this point not knowing Dumpster was a proper noun.

Thanks for clearing that up!

Well, they're ok, I guess. I don't really have a like/dislike relationship with Kleenex. I don't loathe them, if that's what you're asking.
