Laughing OK, I won't, but will someone please explain what the fuck, "Support Our Troops" is supposed to mean, besides being a political war slogan?

From the beginning of this mess, I've had the urge to rip those magnetic suckers off every car I see, and ram them down the throats of the drivers. Evil or Very Mad

Let's just have stickers and magnetics that say 'Fuck our troops and their fucking families'. Its not like the military has ever done anything for us, the citizens.

Evil or Very Mad Mad

Support Our Troops, to me, means to...
Honor the men and women that have left the security of their day to day
existence.
To literally put their lives on the line, for what they belive is a right and just cause.
Seeking out the buttheads responsible for the tragedy that was 9/11.
To keep faith with them, that we will support them in that endeavor.
That my support will not waiver until said cause is realised.
That is what it means to me.

What the present spin buttheads have done with it, is something entirely different.
I will decline to address that, as it tends to really piss me off.

Except for Bin Laden, we GOT the buttheads responsible for 9/11. Iraq was merely an exercize in agressive capitalism. Now all we need to do is pull our troops from Iraq, send 'em into Afghanistan, find Bin Laden, ice him, then bring them HOME.

OK, the responses, except for Aubie who completely missed the point, have not altered my feeling that those bumper stickers are nothing more than empty, political. warmongering sloganeering that do absolutely nothing to truly support our troops, and only demonstrates that the mindless idiots who stick them on their cars believe that a false "gung-ho" expression shows that they are backing a truly just cause that is worth the lives of their fellow citizens.

Pathetic!

OK, I think I get it...

I always hated the color-coded awareness ribbons (I think it started with the red AIDS ribbon)
because it seemed too tacky for words to reduce it to a fashion statement-
that & it reminded me of the kinky color-coded handkerchiefs....

So, what's it mean to you?
Personally.
Or do you plan to merely sling poo, and find fault?

Yeah! That will teach them a thing or two about the virtues of non-violence!

As I said, "(it) demonstrates that the mindless idiots who stick them on their cars believe that a false "gung-ho" expression shows that they are backing a truly just cause that is worth the lives of their fellow citizens."

For my part, I contribute heavily both financially, and with considerable personal effort, to bring change and rational thought to the political process...as frustrating as that can be. Rolling Eyes

But...but, slinging poo and finding fault are two of my best qualities! Laughing

The "Support Our Troops" stickers anger me, too. If you ever have the opportunity to ask the driver of one of these vehicles what they're doing to support the troops, their answers are generally limited to: "Well, I bought this sticker" and "Whenever I hear someone say we shouldn't be in Iraq I tell them to shut up".

As far as minting stickers that say 'Fuck our troops and their fucking families' goes, I know where I'd expect to see them:

Bush opposes 3.5% pay increase for military proposed by Congress.

http://www.armytimes.com/news/2007/05/military_payhike_whitehouse_070516/

Bush opposes shorter tours for deployed troops.

http://democrats.senate.gov/dpc/dpc-new.cfm?doc_name=sr-108-2-21

Bush favors increases in TriCare fees for service members.

http://capwiz.com/military/issues/alert/?alertid=9262021&type=CO

Bush opposes expanding special compensation for members forced into early retirement by combat related disabilities.

http://www.military.com/benefits/military-pay/special-pay/combat-related-special-compensation

But I don't think Air Force One would look very presidential if it were plastered with bumper stickers.

And here is a SITE where you can order one of these or have one customized with an even more pithy saying. Smile
