Hah! I knew it! See? from reading the other posts, I KNEW that subject would get your attention.
I'm Wingnut. I go by that name online, because like all the other boys born in 1971, my real name is Jason. Given that this was such a popular name at the time, my parents saw fit to give me a middle name that would cut through any confusion - John. *sigh* Ah, but why wingnut? Well? Why not?
I am Canadian, and I am pretty sure I'm a Beta Male (and that sentence says it all, really)...wait...a beta male Canadian...is that just redundant? Never mind....
I live on the we(s)t coast, on Vancouver Island, and I work for the Province of British Columbia. I make maps. I love my job, which alternates between sitting at a desk, and being out in the woods running from bears while being weighed down by a $60,000 GPS unit. This is why I always go out in the woods with someone in crappy shape...that way, I don't have to outrun the bear, I just have to outrun my hiking partner. I'm also firm believer in the fact that the best survival gear you can buy is a used pack of playing cards from the local casino.
I am, obviously, a big fan of Christopher Moore. I'm also a big fan of Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman, and a bunch of other dudes that are as talented but not as funny.
Ah yes, the pie. How about Cherry? Cherries grow amazingly well around here. And it's good with icecream.
Cheers!

some comments on the rules....
|
|
With the rules now having been read, I have just a couple of things:
Rule 1 is just a given. Maybe too much information for my first day here, but there ya go.
Rule 2: Is it ok that I have a laptop and do my posting in bed IF, in fact, my bed is made up of AG's books?
Rule 3 is also, I hope, a given.
Rule 4: as per rule 11, I will be ignoring this rule.
Rule 5: as mentioned in my previous posting, I am a beta male, and as such do not make eye contact anyway.
Rule 6: see my response to rule 4
Rule 7: I have no disparaging remarks about 'Buffy', but I would like to say that Mr. Whedon's foray out of fantasy and into more sciency-fictiony realms is far more up my alley. (I'm talking about Firefly, if there's anyone here who's been under a rock.)
Rule 8:
Rule 9: I have only one thing to say about politics: Poly = many, Ticks = bloodsucking insects. So sayeth the public servant.
Rule 10: Agreed.
And, I must point out, I am allergic to latex, but I understand Walmart has quite a deal on non-latex gloves. Bring it on.

Welcome, Wingnut!
Fresh meat is always appreciated here, especially if it comes with an appropriately warped sense of humor. You appear to have potential in that respect, but we will be monitoring your posts carefully, particularly because of your country of domicile. I concur, however, with her divineness, Diva Ginjg, in giving you partial credit for being on the west coast...which is surely the least onerous of, *shudder*, "Dion country," and close enough to her that if a personal INTERVENTION is needed, she is close by.
Although not explicitly stated in the RULES, it is expected by the Boardello members that a photograph (full frontal nudity, of course) be taken during your three month trial period. For the sake of your foolish pedomorphic modesty, said photograph may be sent via Personal Message (PM) directly to Divo Ultima, Joelibris, whom we strive lovingly to keep entertained and uh, er...um, stimulated. Upon exhaustive review of said photograph, DUJ will contact you directly if a more "in depth" connection is warranted.
Now get nude, and get posting!

First of all, in regards to Amigo's post, on behalf of all canucks, I am deeply, DEEPLY sorry for inflicting upon you the thing known as "Celine" We have attempted to make amends for this by providing you with some of our good talent, but we know we have a ways to go.
Perhaps, Amigo, I can provide you with some schnitzengruben, or 15?
And Joelibris, I have never been an extra in anything - that would make me an actor, and in direct contravention of rule 10 - but Key Lime I can do. Do you prefer it with or without meringue?...wait...merengue...or, possibly, meringue while DANCING the merengue...whatever floats yer boat...I can do it or die trying...or try dying...or try some tie dying...(animaniacs? anyone?)
I am a little frightened to ask...what does SFAWWACWJDD mean...(cringing)?
And yes, FIrefly ROCKS, it should NEVER have been cancelled, and Wash needs to be resurrected in the next movie.
Anyway, I'll check back later - I have to go unwind, it was a long day sitting in the sun on the boat and getting paid for it....
Cheers!

Question, tho - how does one keep one's bare ass from sticking to a stack of trade paperbacks? (The only format I can find AG's books in locally) |
don't make your silly problems ours.

Is it permissable to cover the books with a towel, or what? I sit at my computer for hours on end - and I hope some more books are coming soon, this stack is way to short - me knees are up around my ears. (shutupshutupshutup) |
way beyond overshare, and no, there are no allowances for barriers. One's osmosis cannot be blocked by cloth or other manufactured (by nature or Man) materials. Suffer, preferably in silence.

Thanks for all the welcome messages - I feel like I am well on the way to insinuating myself into your incestuous little bunch.
Cheers,

Any feelings of welcome are unintended and the responsibility of those soft-hearted bastards to get much tougher. _________________ "Fantasy is an exercise bicycle for the mind; it doesn't take you anywhere, but it tones up muscles that might." Pratchett
