Why do Brits always hide their good stuff?  Reply with quote

I have just discovered BBC2 journalist Louis Theroux. Why have you British kept him so secret? his weird Weekend show kept me up all night last night. No, seriously, I have not yet slept. I have been up since 5:30am Sunday. That's like 30 hours or something.

So I may be suffering from delusions but I am pretty sure I watched several episodes before I got to that state.

If you don't know who I am talking about then check thisout. He covers everything from TV evangelists, to the Nazi's, to the porn industry and well, just about every little weird niche of society. Sometimes sad, sometimes funny and sometimes just infuriating, Louis is always thought provoking.

So, FFPF, is he a national celebrity? Cause I think he's freakin' fabulous! But again, I may be clouded by delusions due to lack of sleep.

He's no secret and yes, he's a national celebrity but only among the cool people. I miss his shows.

He looks sort of like John Oliver of The Daily Show.

Oh, wait, they're both Brits, right?

Why does this remind me of Jon Ronson????
This guy http://www.jonronson.com/
He also interviews people with extreme views or the societal fringe..
He slays me. Very Happy

I had my societal fringe removed surgically when I was eight years old.

It's easier that way. The non-surgical method, invented later, is rather painful by comparison -- so I'm told. It's called "Nair on Steroids."

The Brits don't always hide their good stuff from you. Jeff didn't hide it from you in LA. I seem to recall him asking, "What can brown do for you?" more than once.

That guy looks familiar, he's a hottie, no matter what Kar says Razz

Didn't he do a special on that crazy (Phelps?) family that has antigay protests at military funerals?

Yeah, I'm gonna run out of shows soon. Do you know if he is still doing it? I sure hope so.

And yeah, it's like almost 1:30 am and I am still up. I might have gotten a nap in between 2:15 and 2:30 this afternoon but I'm not sure. I don't think I really fell asleep before being woken up. I think I forgot how to sleep. I hate insomnia. Sad

I love Louis and the Nazis. Louis and the Bordello was pretty neat too.

It's not even what he explores that interests me most, but how he behaves in different situations around people. How incredibly tolerant he can stay, yet maintain his spine when pushed (harder).

That is exactly it, Alico. He remains so calm under pressure but never betrays his beliefs.

A better question would be...Where do the Brits always hide their good stuff?

Heh. If you mis-read the title, you're wondering why anyone thinks that Brit has ever hidden her good stuff.
