My first book  Reply with quote

Hi all, I started my first Christopher Moore book, Island... in the fall and I have been steadily devouring them ever since. Island was like a revelation to me. I've never read a book that was so "in your face" funny in my life. After finishing, I was compelled to find the site because I wanted to know who wrote the books and if others were as addicted as I.

I have steadily progressed through, Lust Lizard, Bloodsucking Fiends, You Suck, Practical Demonkeeping, Lamb and Stupidest Angel. After each book I declare to take a break and before I know it I'm sneaking off to the bookstore in search of my next hit, err... book. Okay, I acknowledge my addiction.

It is hard to declare a favorite, but Stupidest Angel was fantastic. It was great to revisit the quirky family of characters that I loved and it had so many "spit your coffee out" laugh aloud moments that it is definitely right up there. I still have Fluke and Coyote Blue to go. I'm trying to wait until summer and am staving off the impulse by reading a little nonfiction and keeping myself so busy at work that I can't breathe. (I'm a teacher of sixth graders--reveals more of my insanity, I know).

Enough about me. I just wanted to introduce myself in case I am compelled to contribute to the board.

WELCOME IC!
A Teacher!
Oooh, moulding young minds, don't forget to put them back when you're
done.
If you take notice of our Prez, you'll see what happens when you forget to.
Did you bring Pie?
Have you read the rules?
Do you want fries with that?
O.K. I'm done.

You truly have my deepest, profoundest sympathies.

Stupidest Angel's my fave too, and yes, if you know there are Moore masterpieces out there, patiently waiting for you to read them, it's damned difficult to resist their call. Damned difficult.

So, welcome and make with the pie before the other inmates wake up.

Thank you for the welcome. I admit that I am scum...I knew I forgot one, Dirty Job and loved that, too.

Dana....My favorite part in Lamb was when they were Monks and Biff was on the cliffside stacking monks for warmth. Also "Torah, Torah, Torah" was an unexpected LOL moment.

Pie...Pie...I bring pie made from the spoor of cheetohs, another from the remnants of "Merry Mix" after all the puffs have been removed and yet another that seems a little crusty but filled with fresh blueberries and raspberries.

As for rules, I always post naked. I'm warmed by the purr of the computer fan.
