Apple/Pear/Cranberry Pie  Reply with quote

**contains milk**

Preheat oven to 375
Cook for 40-45 min

Crust ( bottom and top):
2 2/3 cup flour
1 tsp. salt
3/4 cup plus 2 Tbsp. lard or 1 cup crisco
(I used butter because our store doesn't sell crisco.)
7-8 Tbsp. cold water

Filling:
2-3 Empire Apples
2-3 Pears
2-3 McIntosh Apples
cranberry pulp leftover from home-made cranberry sauce
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup flour
1 tsp cinnamon
Dash of salt
you made a little bit of lemon juice to prevent fruit from browning

Directions for Crust:
*Mix flour and salt.
*Cut in lard till looks like peas.
*Sprinkle with water, 1Tbsp. at a time, tossing with fork till all flour is moistened (you can add 1-2 Tbsp. more if needed).
*With your hand split dough in two.
*I find it is best to roll it on floured wax paper.

Filling:
Core and slice Apples and Pears. I alternate between the apples, pears, and cranberry pulp so the acid of the cranberries helps prevent browning.
Make sure it is in a bowl big enough so you can then add the sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt and mix thoroughly. Gently put it all in the pie crust and lay the top crust on. I put a little half-n-half and sprinkled sugar on top so it browns nicely and tastes a little sweet.

Enjoy!!
