SPOILER just a fan gushing about the book  Reply with quote

ok first off i have never read leir nor am i really inclined to, i actually never took a liking to reading w.s. outside of when i need to get to sleep in a hurry. Fool was a fabulous way to at least get me to say "hey i bet you i would totally dig the movie or play"
i enjoyed this whole book, there was only one part that confused me where spoiler

there is an intermission conversation near the end between pocket and edmund

but that could have been the corona's fault.

a.g. managed to get the slang down so well that i have almost involuntarily re-adopted many of the speech quirks i developed after i lived in england for a year.
the amount of boffing and tossing in the book made me blush at times and almost eliminated this from the "read out loud for the family" stack but i figured after reading a section from "bonk" about the science of artificial pig insemination a line or two about spoiler shagging someone through an arrow hole might be a step up.

anyways i have more compliments but i want to re-read it and finish still life with woodpecker so i must stop for now

I loved it!

Dunno if this counts as a spoiler but I liked it better than the bard's version
cuz the characters seemed more like real people...

...especially with the whole backstory for the fool! Very Happy

Just in case the thread title didn't give it away: Here be Spoilers (minor).

Just finished. Absolutely LOVED IT! Easily one of my favorites.
I'm now basking in the glow of the afterbonk that was reading "Fool." Very Happy

Admittedly, I wanted to read this in a coffee shop... but after opening to the map while on the subway, reading "Abbey of Dog Snogging" and "Fucking France," and trying so hard to stifle out-loud-laughter, and looking absolutely retarded in the process; reading this in public was not an option. Smile

What an amazingly sharp, hilarious(!!) dark comedy. Well done, AG!
