Better than pie  Reply with quote

MINOR SPOILER

I've only started to read Fool and already found that Goneril loves her father, King Lear, over pie. Obviously she must not be a board member. To place human affections over pie is sacrilege! Anyways, seeing the pie reference made me smile and think of the board. Was it put in as a nod toward the boardellos?

Edited for clarity

I think that's what Shakespeare originally put in the first draft of the play; but then he realized that the line didn't scan correctly as blank verse, so he took it out the reference to pie.

Don't worry, she didn't mean it, after all.
