As for a replacement for the old SRD handle, I have been considering just reverting back to what was on my report cards in Jr. High and High School, and that is J. David Chadwick. Not very many people go by their middle names, and J. is a cool first initial.

least you have a middle name.

I'd let you have mine, but I got rid of it last year when I married cuz I hate it-
as a bonus, my new last name actually has ABBA in it... Shocked

J. David Chadwick would look cool on a book cover. Go with that.

You could go all mysterious and be J.D. Chadwick.

I'm glad I don't have a first name.

I've got two middle names instead.

Great thread!!! I was wondering about the pen name thing too.

My name is pretty common, so much so that I have to convince the people at the university that they have the right person. Even when I get my doctorate, I will be sharing this name with thousands of people (my last name is Miller). Nothing wrong with a Miller, though my great-grandparents were forced to change it at the island. I've been toying with changing it back to our real family name, though I need to find the old papers to do so.

Anyhow, I will be presenting two sides of myself in the near future: One to the academic community where I have published journal articles about speech perception and the other as a fiction writer. I am not afraid of the overlap, but I don't want my future students constantly barraging me with questions about my writing when I'm trying to teach them Psychology.

What would you guys do in that situation?

My pen name is presently Veronique-Diane Asile.
This was based off of writings I did in French, which have a wonderful way of translating into English with more flare than had it been written the other way.

Thanks.

I have decided that for Novel 4 I'm going to be J. David Chadwick instead of Sugar Ray Dodge. I'm 30 now, maybe its time to grow up and stuff...

My husband might argue with you about that growing up bit... Wink

It's probably a good thing that you didn't go with Dave
or we might have to be forcibly restrained from doing a certain Cheech & Chong skit... Twisted Evil

You can call me J or you can call me Ray, or you can call me J. Ray, but ya doesn't have to call me Dodge.

I kinda dig J.D. Chadwick. J. David Chadwick is cool, too.

I've always wanted to use Robin Cradles as my "on-air" name in radio, but I've never had a boss go for it. They just kind of look at me until the joke sinks in and then they roll their eyes. Then I would ask, "What about Robin Banks?"
