I've noticed we've had a lot of new people register lately. Introduce
yourselves...we like to know who we are offending. Wink

I am milkthecashcow and, I am a Newbie. I'm one of those typical angst filled youngsters you always see at your favorite monument to consumerism, the mall. jk I love to write [ poems, the beginnings of stories before I compulsively destroy them, thoughts] I LOVE music [ plays guitar and listens to indie stuff (nada surf, built to spill) alternative (smashing pumpkins, sonic youth) jazz, rock, punk, ska, classical, anything as long as it's not country or rap. Oh and I like to read ( You know Chris, Carl Hiaasen, Dean Koontz and others)

I'm Woof! I'm a compulsive liar. Well, not really...

I'm a materialist in that the mind and soul are crap ideas. I worship at the Holy Temple of Matter. Yet I love the ideas in Christianity, just not the Profts For Jesus crowd. Combine those two with a slow to fade disgust in the Sacred Feminine.

Die-hard Democrat from freshmen year high school up to Clinton/Gore.
Now Independent, though if there was a Disappointed By Politicians party, hells, I'd chair it. I don't expect America to live longer than I do, and that breaks my heart.

I love people who think things I don't agree with. I need to know why and how they think it. I abdicated the Democrats since most of the ones I know are always and obviously right. If you can't be wrong or can't listen you aren't much of a person. Discourse is the number two thing that has makes this country what it is. After intercouse, naturally.

I'd go drinking with Decartes if I could. I'm not very bright, so we'd just end up pantsing people and stealing things.

If I can't eat it, I'm going to try to read it. And if I can't read it I'll throw it away.

And I'm so amazingly board at work. So dull. So dull. So... dull.

WTMFI? Yes.

Hiyas KEB is Karl, and where to begin...

I am kind of a goofy research chemical engineer who works a lot more intuitively than most people can stand - I guess that works for research sometimes as long as I get results and don't need to explain things too much. Happily partnered gay guy with three cats as kids and at times they seem to be as much trouble as other folks kids (Frannie hates Martin... Martin rides the short bus... Ian is too smart for any critter... Ian and Martin both have dog souls...) I spend too much time playing MMORPG's instead of working on glass art, drawing, keeping the house clean... Voracious reader but it needs to be kind of quirky or funny or I will fall asleep (strangely enough material science is quirky enough I don't fall asleep reading technical stuff most of the time.) Sorely in need of more vacation, exercise, and peace. Despiser of deer (they are EBIL) no matter how cute the fawns are - I live in the mid-Hudson valley of NY and not only have I had moderately severe Lyme disease, but I can't grow anything in my yard without it becoming the deer salad bar of the neighborhood.

Let's see, I think Chris is adorable both in appearance and soul and that he is wise enough not to get weirded out by me writing that.

Anything else I think you will need to ask. I was lurking for a long while and finally registered because of the political discussions even though the fun stuff is what I love.

My sister lives in NJ and can share your deer pain. She thinks hunting is a sport that should be taken up by more people. She knows at least some plants/flowers that the deer find unappetizing. I can ask her for some tips for you. I do know that they are averse to mint. I've read that given the chance, they will chew gum and eat marijuana. Should be entertaining either way....

Hullo folks. I'm Opotamus, Beer Opotamus. Not nearly intoxicated enough yet to write a full bio, so I'll keep reading the boards, and drinking, and check back with you later.

Hullo,

Actually, since I have a really long hyphenated moniker, most people call me hdm. I am also called Heidi, but that always conjures up visions of a plump Swiss girl in dirndl and kerchief, and stupid questions about my grandfather to which I usually tell the offenders to go blow an alpenhorn.
Laughing

I live in a pseudocity plunked down in the midst of cows and forests. I live in a 95-year-old two-story a block-and-a-half from a university, by the rest of the granola-eatin', subaru-drivin' liberals. (hyphens, anyone?)

My husband and I are full-time DINKs and we also are part-owners in a bricks and mortar nerd game store (D&D, Magic cards, RPGs, computer gaming and various accessories). I am a marketing copywhore and my husband does the computer support specialist gig.

We have two tabbys: Maxwell Edison Carter and Wallis Warfield Simpson.

I am on my second draft of a murder mystery (my first). It is not the absolute suckiest thing ever written in the history of the world, but it needs major work.

I saw "The Stupidest Angel" at Borders, sat down and read it, and elicited sharp looks from other patrons as I laughed silently, tears rolling down my cheeks. I have since also read "Lamb" (got kicked out of bed for laughing) and "Bloodsucking Fiends." The rest of AGs books are on my holiday wish list.

After finding the board and lurking, I thought all y'all were cool - and you have the same snarky senses of humour as have I. Plus, to poach a phrase from Hillary, you are all "Wicked Smaht."

So, thanks for the laughs and for letting me play in your sandbox...
