I've always loved Freaky Dancing by Happy Mondays

Some others that always cheer me up:

Every Little Thing She Does - Police

Sunny Hours - Long Beach Dub Allstars

Fat Bottomed Girls - Queen

In the Morning - Nina Simone

Miles Runs the Voodoo Down - Miles Davis

Shoplifters of the World - Smiths

Everyday Is Like Sunday - Morrissey

Ballerina - Van the Man

Kooks - David Bowie

Oh/41 - Dave Matthews

Sit Down/Fred Astaire - James

I Don't Wanna Grow Up - Tom Waits

Cholly - Fishbone

I could go on but I need to get to bed but those songs are the ones that usually do it for me. mostly the ones in bold.

Yesterday when my loving sweet dog decided to read - er, eat a few books, I heard Darth Vadar's music as I walked towards him. Does that mean I'm strange?

Y - my cats run now when they hear me singing the Imperial March. They know that I'm coming to collect one of them for either a bath, their nails clipped, or one of them will get their ears cleaned. Wink

My personal theme song would probably be "Tragic Comic" by Extreme or "You and Me Against the World" by Helen Reddy. The last was song to me quite often by my mother.

Nobody's Girl - Bonnie Raitt.

Wink

She don't need anybody to tell her she's pretty.
She's heard it every single day of her life.
He's got to wonder what she sees in him
when there's so many others standing in line.

She gives herself to him, but he's still on the other side.
She's alone in this world, She's nobody's girl.
She's nobody's girl.

She shows up at this doorstep in the middle of the night,
Then she disappears for weeks at a time.
Just enough to keep him wanting more
But never is he satisfied.

And he's left to pick up the pieces, wondering what does he do this for.
She's off in her own little world, She's nobody's girl.
She's nobody's girl.

He said "Before I met her, I didn't love nothin.'
I could take it or leave it, that was okay, but
She brings out a want in me
For things I didn't even know that I need."

She does anything she wants, anytime she wants to,
With anyone. You know, she wants it all.
Still she gets all upset over the least little thing,
When you hurt her, it makes you feel so small.

And she's a walking contradiction,
But I ache for her inside.
She's fragile like a string of pearls.
She's nobody's girl.

She's fragile like a string of pearls.
She's nobody's girl.
She's nobody's girl.
She's nobody's girl.

JUST LIKE FRED ASTAIRE

Doctor,
What is happening to me?
Palpitations
My mindís diseased
Even my vision is impaired
Iím losing my hair
Cos when I hold her in my arms
I feel like fred astaire

Lovesick
My temperatureís high
Just met a girl
Who believes we can fly
Iím a millionaire
And when I hold her in my arms
I feel like fred astaire

I believe in happiness
I believe in love
I believe she fell to earth
From somewhere high above
I believe in hollywood
Donít believe that love must bring despair
Cos when I hold her in my arms
Iím just like fred astaire

He said love is just a disease
A plague for the naÔve
These days no one believes
These days no one believes

Meteors may strike the earth
Nations live and die
Iím the boy who got the girl
Who showed me how to fly
We can cross the race divide
Bridge a gap that wasnít really there
Iím gonna hold her in my charm
Just like fred astaire

SIT DOWN

Iíll sing myself to sleep
A song from the darkest hour
Secrets I canít keep
Inside of the day
Swing from high to deep
Extremes of sweet and sour
Hope that God exists
I hope I pray

Drawn by the undertow
My life is out of control
I believe this wave will bear my weight
So let it flow

Oh sit down
Sit down next to me
Sit down, down, down, down, down
In sympathy

Now Iím relieved to hear
That youíve been to some far out places
Itís hard to carry on
When you feel all alone
Now Iíve swung back down again
Itís worse than it was before
If I hadnít seen such riches
I could live with being poor
Oh sit down
Sit down next to me
Sit down, down, down, down, down
In sympathy

Those who feel the breath of sadness
Sit down next to me
Those who find theyíre touched by madness
Sit down next to me
Those who find themselves ridiculous
Sit down next to me
Love, in fear, in hate, in tears

Down
Down

Oh sit down
Sit down next to me
Sit down, down, down, down, down
In sympathy

Oh sit down
Sit down next to me
Sit down, down, down, down, down
In sympathy

Down

#41

Come see
I swear by now I'm playing time against my troubles oh
oh I'm coming slow but speeding well
Do you wish for a dance while I'm in the front
My play on time is won
Oh But the difficulty is coming here...

I will go in this way
And I'll find my own way out
I won't tell you to stay
But im coming to much more...Me
all at once the ghosts come back
Reeling in your mind
Oh what if they came down crashing
used to be, you and me played for all that loneliness that nobody
notices now
Oh begging slow
I'm coming here....., yeahah ohoh
I'm waiting
I wanted to stay
I wanted to play
I wanted to love you

I'm only this far
And only tomorrow
leads the way

I'm coming, waltzing back
and moving pushing into your head... please
I wouldn't pass you by
Oh and I wouldn't take any more
and what sort of man goes by
I will bring you water
Why won't you ever be glad
It melts into wonder
i came in praying for you
Why won't you run
into the rain and play
and let the tears splash all over you.

In the Morning - Nina Simone
(1966) barry gibb

In the morning when the moon is at its rest,
You will see me at the time I love the best
Watching rainbows play on sunlight;
Pools of water iced from cold night,in the morning.
tis the morning of my life.

In the daytime I will meet you as before.
You will find me waiting by the ocean floor,
Building castles in the shifting sands

In a world that no one understands,
In the morning.
tis the morning of my life,

In the morning of my life the

Minutes take so long to drift away
Please be patient with your life
Its only morning and youre still to live your day

In the evning I will fly you to the moon
To the top right hand corner of
The ceiling in my room

Where wll stay until the sun shines
Another day to swing on clothes lines
May I be yawning

It is the morning of my life
It is the morning of my life
In the morning
In the morning
In the morning

These are the lyrics to some of the songs I listed. If you were wondering.

ta,

I have many, depending on the situation ...  Reply with quote

Keep me hangin' on is one
(you know, for the relationship that really really needs to end)

And that Rubber Tree Plant song ... I always sing it to co-workers when they are down. I sing bad, so the incentive is, never get down again and you don't have to hear me sing.

and sometimes ... Just a little Eye of the Tiger ....

I don't think I have a personal theme song, but a few years ago a co-worker appropriately chose this as the theme for working in our lab:

http://pages.prodigy.net/area512/circus1.mid the section between 10 through 45 seconds is the relevant part.

Lately it's been more like that little ditty Stanley Kubrick picked out to open "The Shining" which is based on "Dies Irae," a traditional Catholic funeral dirge. Something like this only darker, deeper and slower:

Of course it is the song that is the same as my screen name, Naked and Famous by the Presidents of USA. I also would have to say Jamie's Crying by VH and Under Pressure by Bowie/Queen.

I just wanted to add:

Tom Traubert's Blues

Wasted and wounded, it ain't what the moon did
I've got what I paid for now
see ya tomorrow, hey Frank, can I borrow
a couple of bucks from you, to go
Waltzing Mathilda, waltzing Mathilda, you'll go waltzing
Mathilda with me

I'm an innocent victim of a blinded alley
and I'm tired of all these soldiers here
no one speaks English, and everything's broken
and my Stacys are soaking wet
to go waltzing Mathilda, waltzing Mathilda, you'll go waltzing Mathilda with me

now the dogs are barking
and the taxi cab's parking
a lot they can do for me
I begged you to stab me
you tore my shirt open
and I'm down on my knees tonight
Old Bushmill's I staggered, you buried the dagger in
your silhouette window light go to go
waltzing Mathilda, waltzing Mathilda, you'll go waltzing
Mathilda with me

now I lost my Saint Christopher now that I've kissed her and the one-armed bandit knows, and the maverick Chinamen, and the cold-blooded signs
and the girls down by the strip-tease shows go
waltzing Mathilda, waltzing Mathilda, you'll go waltzing Mathilda with me

no, I don't want your sympathy, the fugitives say that the streets aren't for dreaming now
manslaughter dragnets and the ghosts that sell memories
they want a piece of the action anyhow go
waltzing Mathilda, waltzing Mathilda, you'll go waltzing Mathilda with me

and you can ask any sailor, and the keys from the jailor
and the old men in wheelchairs know
that Mathilda's the defendant, she killed about a hundred
and she follows wherever you may go
waltzing Mathilda, waltzing Mathilda, you'll go waltzing
Mathilda with me

and it's a battered old suitcase to a hotel someplace
and a wound that will never heal
no prima donna, the perfume is on
an old shirt that is stained with blood and whiskey
and goodnight to the street sweepers
the night watchman flame keepers
and goodnight to Mathilda too

ta,
