I think A Dirty Job was a departure from the AG's normal style of writing. Well... they all are in a way. But I never got the feeling that the AG was running out of ideas or that ADJ was just plain dumb. I also didn't think the plot lurched along in fits and starts. And I don't see how one can say that he is forcing the recycled characters. Just because Chris is letting his Vonnegut influence show doesn't mean it's a bad thing. It's something that is special for those who have read his other books and also something that makes rereading his books all that more fun. And I think that the irony in the idea that souls are passed through material objects is more a sign of our times and an ironical statement than anything else. It's okay for people not to like ADJ but to say it was poorly written I think is a stretch. I think his writing has improved with ADJ not the other way around. IMHO Chris has made a book that shows he is writing for the pleasure of the craft and not to sell books to the masses. I wish the masses could truly enjoy every work by Chris but I think that would be a bit much to ask when he writes such genius works as ADJ. Just because it's over your head doesn't mean it sucks as fucktard has implied.

No remarks in the previous statement were aimed at anyone but fucktard the author of the review posted at the top of this post. My views are only my views and not necessarily the views of the management or other members of the boardelllo. Chris Moore is the greatest living author and if you disagree you should have your head examined.

Just hit the "Quote" button in the upper right hand corner of his post and it'll come up in a readable size.

I am going to go with... yes. The Pica Stick for you and one month remedial nudity.

I have to say, this isn't my fave book. I call it close to the top for sheer funniness and closer to the middle for the story. And I really don't mind that someone would post a negative review. It's not going to be everyone's cup of tea (though that was an awful long review for someone who really didn't like the book).

However, I would say that that person just didn't get it. I mean how can you say that the idea that an angel could be stupid is stupid. Angels, as we all know from Dogma, don't have freewill. How could they not be stupid? They never got to have any trial and error with decision making. There was no, "That red spiral thing on top of the stove looks cool, I'm going to touch it. FUCK, it's hot!!!" for them.

My point being if you close your mind off to all ideas other than ones that you were presented with when you were five, there's not much out there for you. And what are you doing in SF? And can I have your apartment when you leave?

Dogma?!

Aren't we scholarly! Twisted Evil

Angels must have free will -- a different quality than intelligence -- or Lucifer could not have rebelled and a third of Heaven followed him. (And since Raziel comes from Lamb, I think the Biblical model should be consulted in such questions)

Not that this is the stuff by which books sink or swim...

Personally, ADJ is one of my favorites, and I completely disagree with the reviewer. But that's me.

It just looked to me like the reviewer took every aspect of the book that WAS PRESENT, and made it negative. I thought the review itself was poorly written...
