Regarding this comment from Crack House at Pooh Corner --

Well, for one, I wasted a good amount of time waiting for the fuckers to show up to drive a stake through Ronnie's heart...I still think Patti Davis is kind of hot and...I would have offered to do her right there in front of the honor guard...not to take advantage of her grief -- jeeze, I'd have bought her some drinks first...

Sorry, but that just makes me sad, hyperbole notwithsatnding.

I agree completely! Let Patti Davis buy her own damn drinks! What's the woman, hurting for money?

Ocaasionally. But to be completely honest, it does usually involve me buying a lot of drinks. What can I say? I'm not a particularly handsome man.

Seamus:

Maureen Reagan isn't seeing anyone, if you want to take a run at her.

You'll save on the drinks, but you'll want to bring a shovel.

Dear Author Guy,

I'm really, really disappointed.

Adios,

You suggest that I need to resort to dead women to get laid, and HE'S disappointed? I'm outraged at his disappointment!

P.S. I'm sorry if I chased one of your fans away. I'm used to people not being big fans of me, but I don't think I've ever cost someone else a fan. I'll buy an extry copy of one of your books.

Seamus

Not your fault or problem. Fewer than a hundred people read these posts, it's not going to make a difference one way or another.

If John was offended by my being silly about dead Reagans, then my work was going to offend him eventually anyway. There are many, many Reagan worship books to keep John busy.

Hell, I've left the board for months at a time when I got pissed about one thing or another.

So does that mean I don't have to buy the extra books?

Oh get over yourself. Its not like those kind of statements are even remotely out of line with what Chris has written in the past. If you truly expected him to not have a little bit of fun with these kinds of events than you are deluding yourself over what kind of author he is.

Hmmmm, I liked and respected Ronald Reagan, and I thought it was funny. I guess I'm just a byproduct of the "I don't give a shit about nothing" generation. And I'm strangely comfortable with that, mostly because I don't give a shit about nothing. So, sorry to see you go John, but if you are thin skinned about such topics (and Iím not faulting you for that, you feel the way you feel), then I'm sure you would just get more offended somewhere down the road.

Dear Author Guy and assorted Reader Guys,

Curiosity got the better of me, and I snuck a peek to see if my post had caused any ripples...

Author Guy certainly took it in stride -- no surprise there.

Responding to a few of the other reactions:

I have read all of Chris's novels. I look forward to reading the next. Nothing in any of them, nor anything else that I read on this web site has bothered me in the slightest. He is my favourite living author.

Regarding the Reagan thing itself, which as I posted, "disappointed" me, "Well..." (Tahnk-you, Ron), "Let me make this perfectly clear..." (Oops, that's Nixon); "Let me say this about that... (Kennedy -- better?)

But seriously...

Coming from a character, in a novel, at some point down the road, that whole Reagan schtick would not bother me. I might even laugh. But coming from a real live person, at a time when the recently deceased, ex-President Guy -- "Now...there you go again! (Thank-you, Ron) -- had barely managed to crawl under the sod, it disappointed me -- timing, as they say, is everything. That being my comment on the Blog, and this being Blog Comments... (One for the Gipper?)

Cheers,

John Palmer

P.S. - Lesst there be any misunderstanding, I am no Reagan lover -- but I could have really gone for her around the time she was in that sequel to The Exorcist and had filled out rather deliciously...or was that "Regan"? Never mind.
